Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas   Happy New Year

I have a feeling that just about every person in the United States have at least heard either "Merry Christmas" or "Happy New Year" at least a dozen times in the past few weeks. If you havent, you sure now that more "Happy New Years" are to come!

My post tonight is about what these words really mean. It seems as if they are almost said off hand, or as if no one seems to care. People usually dont realize the affect of these words.

It can go a number of different ways.

First of all, you may hear this too much. It seems almost repetitive and loses almost all of its sincerity.
Second, you may be very very busy and barely even hear these words.
Third, you may hear these words just the right amount but dont even care about their meaning.

Tonight, I write this because I really want people to know the important of these words. Although a common catch phrase marketers use to try to get customers and sell products, they really symbolize a much bigger meaning. It may even be something too big to understand if you dont take the time.

Just appreciate that people take the little time out of their day to say these kind words to you. Along with that, pass the message along and hope to enlighten someone elses day :)

Back again

Hello everyone! I am so sorry for the long gap between this post and my last one. You see, I guess Ive sort of felt empty the last few weeks and it didnt really make sense to write things on a blog few people ever see.

Anyways, Im not here to whine or complain. I just want to come back to the blog in hope of getting back on my feet again.

TOPIC OF THE BLOG: RESOLUTIONS!

I actually have no idea what I am going to say here...but lets go!

I think that new year's resolutions are the perfect excuse to get something done. Then once the task is completed, you get a feeling of accomplishment and almost a sense of closure. My hope this year? Well, I took the opportunity and made a list of things I want to get done by 2014. Its crazy to think that by this time next year, my sister will only have 6 months left until she goes into the real world!

Now if you have been reading this whole blog, I just wanted to say thank you. I also hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Progress

Hello everyone!

So today I am writing about a topic that has come up in our history course recently and I actually find it quite simulating to the mind..

Progress.

What is progress? When people normally think of progress, they feel as if the something has moved forward, usually for the better.

In history, people think "oh the scientific revolution! it was such a great time! we created tons of new machines and made advances in science in mathematics!" however, the other side may not always be brighter.

The scientific revolution was also a horrifying time for the peasants and lower-middle class because it endangered a great deal of people with work. Now that a machine could replace them, the workers would lose their job.

So again, what is progress? I think that progress is when the human race makes advances in a field; however, this may affect the progress of another industry but it is nevertheless "progress."

And so readers, I ask the thing of you. What does it mean for humans to make progress?

Overall, this leads to the topic for my next post about perspective.

Thank you all for reading

What is this??!?! St.Mary's provides Severn with inadequate courts when we travel all the way to play them? and you we have go there again? this is crazy.

Score when we left was a little low though. Hopefully the Severn guys will be able to regroup for tomorrow.

Go Severn!!

Drama and Football

Hello all:) For me, this is very excited news and I cant wait to share it with everyone.

Starting this week, I can now improvise! Of course nothing extremely fancy but I could play in the B chord forever. It is so relaxing and peaceful to the ear that I am overjoyed playing it.

...and congratulations steelers. you won fair and square and as much as it kills me, you guys really picked up your game last weekend.

Also, I have started dancing again! Last night, for the first time in years, I participated in a dance class. I felt so at home! It honestly feels so good to have a place to belong too.

Overall, I'd say that it has been a great week. Think positive and look to the bright side. As I said earlier, you need to reflect on the past to move towards the future. Well, this week will be very helpful to look back on during exam week soon.

Gotta keep your head up:)

On the Mind

I do apologize for the lack of posting within the past few days. I spent just about every moment reading this book..almost done:)

anyways i have a lot to say but not enough time.

Coming in the future:
1. links to other blogs
2. review of christmas
3. christmas music
4. ravens vs. steelers the other night

and much more! and I did not just say that because I couldnt think of anything else to say.

Overall, I love blogging so far. I believe that it has helped me become a faster typer because I let my thoughts out in a natural way.

I can not believe exams are in two weeks..I must read my book and go to bed. Hope everyone had a great Monday!

Decisions

During out live times, we all have to face them. Wether its going to see the movie with your favorite actor or choosing an insurance plan, we all have to face challenging decisions within our life.

So how can you truly tell the difference between what is the right and wrong choice? What may appear right to you may appear differently to other; therefore, causing you to think that making the right choice wasn't as great as you thought it would be.

Here's my belief: You can always make others around happy in life. Yes that is extremely harsh and yes it may be selfish but YOU are the only person that can control themselves.

This all comes with some sort of balance. Its illegal to go around and steal money from banks to make yourself feel better because you are explicitly putting other peoples feelings and lives at risk. Now..that may be the extreme version but it does exemplify why its is crucial to know the balance.

At the end of the day, only you can make the decisions in your life. People will constantly try to morph and shape you into the person you will become. However, you can then choose wether or not if you want to be that person.

The theory of "weeding and feeding" is yet to come adapted from Jon Gordon's The Energy Bus.

Happy Friday!

The past and the future

People say that you should look to the future and not dwell on the past..

so topic of the night: PAST/FUTURE

what is more important? the past or the future?

well, i believe that they are both equally important. in order to move into the future, you have to understand and reflect on your past. therefore, the future is dependent on the past and it revolves on things that happened in the past.

you can control your future; you cant control your past.

Instead of imagining, "why does life constantly trying to knock me down? whats happens if i wont be able to get back up?" think of this:

what happened in your past that are negatively affecting you? people say don't focus on the negatives in your life because they will only bring you down. however, if you never focus and dwell on the negatives, how will you be able to fix those issues in the future? and how will you be able to realize the positives in your life?

I guess the overall theory is that you have to focus on the dark moments in your past to move to brighter things in the future.

Physical Therapy

Hello all... it will take a while to fully go over this. Heres the quick run-down.

Im at physical therapy right now. Why you may ask? For my back and shoulder. Thank you St. Mary's, I will never forgive you.

You know that saying what doesnt kill you makes you stronger? No. This was just pain and this photos barely do the pain justice.

Took some medicene that knocked me out to relieve the pain. I went to school at 12 today because I could barely lift my eyes it took so much effort. It hurts to walk, carry a backpack, cross my legs, and just about everything.

Cant avoid some sort of pain. Advil is barley helping. I want to let out little cries now and then. People dont get it; its hard to understand.

Some day when I have the time, I will fully explain the situation. At least in bits and pieces. I just hate spending so much time focusing on something that bothers me.

Thats all for now! Lets hope the pain subsides.

Hello and Goodnight

I was going to title "goodnight" but thought that wouldn't really be fair considering that I never said hello.

Extremely tired and in a great deal of pain tonight. I am absolutely miserable. Thats why Im heading to bed "early" even though its 11.

and here comes the desperate blogger question: is anyone reading this? anyone? i dont care if its one person. Who wants a million people following there every move?

ehhh thats what famous people are for.

*famous people blog entry soon??*

would love to share my day. I have some picture to represent my pain. Ill leave you with this for now.

See the nail scratch marks? Thanks St.Marys.

On the Mind- Liking

What this post is about: well, I have no ideas. Let's see where it goes

They say you need a starting point. Maybe it is time to readdress Instagram.

Previously, discussed the importance of followers and follower and how it play a physiological role in children and teens everyday life now.

THAT'S JUST PART ONE.

Once you tackle followers/following, then you have to deal with another concept (also seen on social media site such a Facebook) -liking.

When something is "liked" by someone, it is shown to the world who liked it and what it is for.

Here is a photo that I posted this Sunday in the afternoon and it received a decent amount of likes-more than 30.

My goal as an "instagramer" is to post approximately 1-2 photos every week and get around 35 likes. That "like" number, however, steadily increases now and then because I gain more followers or Instagram becomes more popular.

Im not saying that I have these strict goals. On the contrary, what is the point of social media? To stay connected blah-blah-blah.....okay thats half true. Now though we have these numbers and stats that we try to perfect everyday, it is more than that. Liking does somewhat show popularity but not completely. It really depends on what it means for you to be "popular."

More discussions/debates with myself about social media and conspiracies to come. I hope everyone had a happy monday and that we all will continue to have an amazing week!

Goodnight-Instagram

As I'm typing this, I can barely keep my eyes straight. Still have my history homework to do :(

I did promise a few topics earlier so here's one before I continue the evening.

Instagram Topic 1: Followers/Following

A struggle teens now face everyday that are involved with social media. EVEN the popular kids (ill address their issues in a second)

Back when adults were children, they didnt even have the internet. Now teens are forced everyday to see how many people follow them, want to follow them, unfollow them, and then you have the vice-versa!

Following/Followers is a huge discussion. I will barely cover my whole thoughts tonight.

When someone "follows" you, it isnt forever. One click of a button and they could bring down the numbers on your list. Even if someone follows you, you now have to decide if you want to follow them back or not. The worst part of it all is that the person who may have originally followed you would unfollow you once you followed them.

Confusing right?

Its a physiological problem that toys with childrens minds.

Say you are popular

Well that's for a different time. Homework calls once again.

Holiday Homework

Strangely indifferent here about homework over a break.

Most teenagers would automatically say how much the hate homework-even parents too!

..there is that two percent that strive on homework and are considered "nerds"

dont hate homework. dont like it.

perfectly in the middle here. I dont like doing the actual homework but i understand why the teachers assign it.
unless its just busy work like coloring or a hundred math problems-i cant stand that

NOT KIDDING JUST THIS SECOND MY BROTHER AND PARENT DEBATED ABOUT HOMEWORK!

Here's what I heard:

dad: homeworks overrated
brother: so what you just dont want me to do it?
dad: i think its time for someone to go to bed
brother: i think so too
dad: this is totally uncalled for

you can believe anything you want but the above just happened (or somewhat of a rough translation)

Point Being:

Teachers, please limit yourself to the amount of homework you give your students-especially over break. After a certain point, it drives everyone insane.

Thank you.

~Elizabeth xoxo

Counting Down

Today I hung out with my neighbor (oh she's also a good friend<3)

I also thought I'd start a little countdown:

-18 days till exams (english is first)
-25 days till Christmas Break (wooohooo!!)
possibly the end of the world..?
-29 days till CHRISTMAS!

and then new years a little bit after that...nothing big or anything if we survive 2012.

update on instagram life and 2012 thoughts coming soon.
